stop a couple strides after fence, back, canter off.
In flat work, I do lots of trot or canter to halt back trot or canter off transitions.
lots of up and down canter transitions.

Subject: Exercises for improving my heavy jumper?
Hi all! My jumper gelding is my treasure. He's so fabulous, I just can't even start. However, nobody is perfect, and his issue is heaviness. It's especially bad after he's jumped a line. Then he'll drag me around the corner, counter-bent and leaning on his inside shoulder.
We work a lot on extension and collection, small circles, bending, counterbending. I find that a little spur helps get him off my inside leg. Sitting in the tack, squeezing my core/thighs and half-halting helps some. He's just so huge, I'm not physically strong enough it sometimes seems.
He's currently in a dee ring corkscrew and figure 8. I don't believe a harsher bit is the answer. I think we just need to discover some helpful exercises.
Any tips?
