Since its touch down on August 25, Hurricane Harvey has displaced over 1 million people and damaged more than 200,000 homes across Texas and the Southern U.S. (According to Fortune/Reuters).
Beauty industry professionals were hit especially hard by this disaster. Stylists and salon owners who make a living through in-person client appointments have been unable to work for weeks. With their salons destroyed, stylists were cut off from their clients, tools and supplies – and lost income along the way.
The Disaster Relief Fund provides financial aid to victims of natural disasters who are in need of basic necessities. One Texas stylist, who wishes to remain anonymous, shares her experience with the Disaster Relief Fund and the relief she felt after receiving assistance from the beauty community.
