I work for a small PBS affiliate in Cookeville Tennessee. As Director of Advancement my job is to lead a team in helping support all fundraising efforts for the station. These efforts include membership, special events, sales, grant writing and marketing. Additionally I have overseen a number of special projects the largest being a move for our business offices into a nearby space. This move required a number of partners, contractors and budget preparation which I was able to oversee from start to finish. I have also worked on large branding opportunities for the station, such as the mobile production unit.
Prior to working WCTE I worked in Nashville for nineteen years. In 1995 I first interned with a small direct mail business soliciting for business and selling mailing list to cruise companies. Upon graduating in spring of 1996 I moved to Nashville full time and accepted a job with the Nashville Business Journal as an account manager. Duties included selling, networking and building relationships with business’ interested in working with the NBJ for their advertising needs. I sold both the weekly NBJ, but also worked on special projects. From there I went back into direct mail, but more from the fulfillment side. I took a position as an account manager that allowed me to have national accounts and work in Nashville. As the account manager I was responsible for 15-20 national accounts that required day to day contact and coordination of all their marketing direct mail efforts. I have worked in marketing for a non-for profit, and as an independent contractor over the years prior to coming to WCTE in 2011.
